HDFC Bank’s downtime alert, UPI service will be closed twice in December

UPI Downtime Alert

HDFC Bank has announced that system maintenance will be done twice in December 2025, during which UPI services will be completely closed. According to the bank, this technical work is necessary to upgrade the system and improve service quality. Both the maintenance slots have been scheduled from 2:30 am to 6:30 am on December 13 and December 21. Each slot will be of total four hours.

Payment will not be made from HDFC Bank account

The bank said that during this period, customers will not be able to do any UPI transaction from their HDFC Bank account. This also includes UPI payment from savings and current accounts, UPI payment from HDFC Bank’s RuPay credit card, transfer through MobileBanking app and payments made through third-party apps (like PhonePe, Google Pay, Paytm). Shopkeepers whose UPI settlements are linked to HDFC Bank accounts will also have to face temporary problems.

HDFC Bank advised to use PayZapp wallet

The bank has asked customers to use PayZapp wallet for payments and transfers during these hours, which will continue to function normally even during maintenance. The bank assured that there will be no disruption for PayZapp.

To start using PayZapp Wallet, customers can download the app from Google Play Store or Apple App Store. After registering with the mobile number, verification will have to be done through OTP. After that two types of KYC have to be completed, bank-based full KYC or basic PAN-based KYC. Full KYC is easy for existing HDFC Bank customers, while non-HDFC customers can complete basic KYC through PAN.

Transaction limits in PayZapp vary depending on the type of KYC. In PAN-based KYC, the monthly and annual limit ranges from ₹ 10,000 to ₹ 1,20,000, whereas in bank-based KYC, this limit increases to ₹ 10 lakh annually. Customers can also set desired spending limits in their wallet.

Apart from this, cashpoints received in PayZapp can also be redeemed directly in the wallet. These can be transferred to the wallet by going to the Cashpoints & Offers section on the homepage or menu bar of the app. HDFC Bank has advised customers to complete important payment related work in advance during these stipulated hours, so that any inconvenience can be avoided.
