Demand for film ban in petition

It was said in the petition that the name of the film was creating an objectionable picture of the Yadav community. It was also claimed that it is shown in the film that a Hindu girl coming from Yadav community falls in love with a Muslim man. The lawyer appearing for the petitioner said that the film is based on a true incident.

Supreme Court did not agree

The bench of Justice Biwi Nagarathna and Justice Ujjal Bhuiyan was hearing the petition. The bench asked, ‘Marriage of a Hindu girl to a Muslim boy is spoiling the fabric of the country.’

The bench said, ‘We have seen the material on record. The main complaint is that the name of the upcoming film tarnishes the image of the Yadav community in the society. Therefore the argument is being made that the name of the film should be changed. We are unable to understand how the title of a film can misrepresent a community. There are no words anywhere in the title of the film that show the Yadav community in a bad light. These apprehensions are completely baseless.

Mentioned about the second film

The court said that bribery means corrupt in English. In such a situation, wrong things were being associated with one community. The court said, ‘No such wrong thing has been linked to the Yadav community in this case.’ He said that this name is not showing the Yadav community in a bad light in any way.

During this, the bench also mentioned the film Bandit Queen. The bench said, ‘In the film Bandit Queen, he was saying that the Gujj community has been shown in a wrong way. Then this court had said that no, it is not so.

The court said, ‘Have a thick skin. This is imaginary. Everything will be over in a week. Nobody is going to the theater these days. Everyone is watching on the phone.
