Harshita Gaur Recalls Childhood Memories of Dussehra, Says Delhi Celebrations Have a Unique Charm

Actress Harshita Gaur, known for portraying Princey in Waiting Hai, Dimpy Pandit in Mirzapur and Sanyukta in Sadda Haq, has revisited her childhood memories of Dussehra celebrations in Delhi, saying the festival in the national capital has a charm of its own.

The actress recalled how she would often play Sita in plays organised at her school and residential society during Dussehra. Those childhood experiences, she said, made the festival a cherished part of her upbringing and strengthened her connection with Indian traditions.

“Dussehra in Delhi has a charm of its own, especially when you look back at it through childhood memories. I remember the excitement around the huge Ravan effigies and how the entire city came alive during the festive season,” Harshita said in a statement.

She added that participating in school and community performances, celebrating with family and experiencing the festive spirit of togetherness made the occasion particularly special.

“As a kid, I used to play Sita in the plays that would happen in school or on our society grounds during Dussehra, and those memories have stayed with me. Going out with family, being part of the celebrations and experiencing that sense of togetherness made the festival so special,” she said.

Dussehra, also known as Vijayadashami, celebrates the triumph of good over evil. The festival is marked by Ravan Dahan, during which effigies of Ravana are set alight as part of the celebrations.

Reflecting on how those experiences have stayed with her over the years, Harshita said it was often the simplest childhood moments that became the most treasured memories.

“Today, when I look back, it’s these simple moments that I cherish the most. The memories stay with you long after childhood,” she added.

Beyond acting, Harshita has a keen interest in Indian culture, which finds expression in her passion for dance and Kathak. The classical dance form combines rhythm, expression and storytelling, reflecting the cultural traditions she continues to value.

On the professional front, the actress was recently seen in Mirzapur: The Movie, a gangster drama directed by Gurmeet Singh. The film features Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Divyenndu, Jitendra Kumar and Ravi Kishan. It serves as an interquel set during the first season of the Amazon Prime Video series Mirzapur.

In the OTT space, Harshita was also seen in Waiting Hai, a crime drama directed by Sameer Vidwans. The project features Divyenndu, Bhuvan Arora, Kumud Mishra, Harshita Gaur and Sunita Rajwar.
