In an exciting turn of events for the rising Indian fast bowler Harshit Rana, the right arm fast bowler has been recently added to the Indian squad that’s about to finalise its playing XI in the third and last one day international against the visiting Afghanistan side.
This is an important moment not just for the returning Harshit Rana but even for the Indian team as the talented speedster is primed to mark a return having been sidelined owing to an injury he sustained earlier in the month of February. The 3rd one day international of the series is to take place in the city of Chennai down south on June 20, Saturday.
Having stayed away from active cricket for nearly a quarter of a year, Harshit Rana, will be excited for his return, raring to go and shall certainly hope to find a place in the final playing eleven that India field in the upcoming contest.
As a result of his injury, the young fast bowler had been sidelined even from T20 cricket because of which he had to sit out of the IPL in its entirety.
And that’s not all; the revered BCCI furnished a statement as of Friday, i.e., June 19 where it highlighted the fact that the now recovered Harshit Rana had “completed his rehabilitation at the BCCI Centre of Excellence” and furthermore, has “linked up with the ODI squad in Chennai”.
But just what had happened to the young fast bowler and how did he get inured?
Earlier this year, in the precursor to the T20 World Cup, Harshit Rana had actually injured his knee in what was a practice match against the Proteas men’s side because of which not only did he have to withdraw from that contest but from the entire World Cup tournament. This also, therefore, contributed to his absence for his famed KKR side in the 2026 season of the Indian Premier League.
That told, thanks to their electrifying performance in the recent two one dayers that led to back to back wins for India, the home side shall be eager to complete a whitewash against Afghanistan in the final game lying ahead.
Having said that the following is the India squad for third ODI against Afghanistan
Shubman Gill (capt), Rohit Sharma, Shreyas Iyer (vc), KL Rahul (wk), Ishan Kishan (wk), Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, Prasidh Krishna, Prince Yadav, Gurnoor Brar, Harsh Dubey, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Harshit Rana
