Hariyali amavasya vrat katha: Hariyali Amavasya, also known as Shravan Amavasya, comes in the very sacred and energy-rich period of Sawan month. Worshiping nature on this day, especially the worship of trees has special significance. This tradition is considered not only environmentally, but also from religious and mythological point of view, very esoteric and important. Let’s know about the hidden depth behind this tradition, the legend related to Shiva-Parvati and the spiritual significance related to this day.
Mythology related to Shiva-Parvati
The relation of tree worship on Hariyali Amavasya is also associated with Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati. According to a legend, once Lord Shiva was absorbed in meditation on Mount Kailash. At the same time, Mata Parvati came to meet her, but Shivji asked her to wait for not to disturb her attention. Mata Parvati kept sitting quiet for some time, but when Shivji did not break the attention, she became worried and started thinking whether Shiva had forgotten her. Meanwhile, he saw that a sage was doing penance under a tree and a bird had built his nest over him. The birds of the bird were still young and their mother went out to bring them food. Suddenly the strong wind started moving and the rain was also going to come. Mata Parvati saw that the sage was absorbed in her tenacity, but the birds of the bird were insecure. They thought that if they do not do anything, then the birds of the bird would get wet in the rain and they will get cold.
Mata Parvati took the form of a leaf and fell on the nest of that bird, so that the nest would be saved from the rain. When the bird returned, he saw that his nest is safe and his children are also fine. She was very happy to see this. When Shivji’s attention was broken, he started finding Mata Parvati and looked at him on the tree as a leaf. Shivji asked her why she became a leaf? Then Mata Parvati told him the whole incident and said that she did so to help the helpless children. Shivji was very pleased with this work of Mata Parvati and said that just as he took shelter of a tree to protect the creatures, in the same way, whoever would plant trees and worship it on this day, he will get the blessings of him and Mata Parvati.
