Hardik Pandya delivers heartfelt tribute to Rohit Sharma for completing 15 Years in MI – WATCH

New Delhi: Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Hardik Pandya delivered a heartfelt speech for Rohit Sharma, who has completed 15 years in the franchise. The Mumbai-based franchise signed Rohit for USD 2 million from the now-defunct Deccan Chargers. He made his debut for the Mumbai Indians against Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) on April 10, 2011, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Hardik congratulated Rohit for completing 15 years and thanked him for his leadership and inspiration over the years. He highlighted his role in nurturing players for the Indian team and praised him for consistently leading from the front.

The all-rounder also credited the former skipper not only for his success on the field but also for being a very supportive leader and teammate, and for giving chances to youngsters like him and Jasprit Bumrah.

“Bro, congratulations on 15 years. Thank you for the way you’ve led this franchise for so long. I made my debut under you, and so did Boom (Jasprit Bumrah) and many others. Thank you for inspiring so many who’ve gone on to represent both this franchise and India. Many congratulations, and thank you for everything you’ve done over the years,” Hardik said in a video uploaded by MI.

Rohit Sharma’s MI career

Rohit Sharma has scored 5994 runs for the Mumbai Indians in 230 IPL matches at an average of 29.67 and a strike rate of 132.79. He smashed 40 half-centuries and two hundreds, with a highest score of an unbeaten 109 runs against the Kolkata Knight Riders in 2012. He also captained the franchise to the five Indian Premier League (IPL) titles and two Champions League trophies.

In the IPL 2026, Rohit has scored 118 runs in three matches at an average of 39.33, with a highest score of 78 against the Kolkata Knight Riders. MI will next take on defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on Sunday, April 12.
