On Friday, a case came to light in Dankaur police station of Greater Noida which surprised the policemen. This case was not about any theft, assault or fraud but about the heartache of an elderly man, who was feeling neglected and insulted after working honestly for 30 years.
An elderly man of about 60 years works at a wholesale vegetable shop in Shok Bazaar area of Dankaur town. He told the police that he had been working at the same shop for the last three decades. His relationship with the owner’s family was not just one of employment, but also one of trust and belonging.
The old man said that he had spent his entire life in building the owner’s business. He remained there from the time the shop opened till it closed. Be it rain or shine, festival or ordinary day. He never turned his back on work. During this time, the owner’s children grew up and became educated and now his son’s marriage was fixed. The old man told that he was hopeful that he would also attend this wedding, because he was always made to feel a sense of belonging in the family. But a few days ago he came to know that the marriage had taken place. When he was neither invited nor did anyone call him, he was devastated from within.
The old man said that earlier when his son got engaged, he was not invited but at that time he explained himself. When she was completely ignored even in marriage, she felt that 30 years of hard work and loyalty had no value.
The feeling of insult took him to the police station.
The old man told the police that he had come to the police station not with the intention of taking legal action but with the hope of justice. He said that I had not committed any crime, I just wanted to be considered a part of the family. He demanded a police complaint and said that the owner had insulted him. When the policemen present at the police station heard the whole story, they were confused for a few moments, because the matter was definitely emotional but it did not constitute a crime in the eyes of the law.
The police officers listened to the old man with full seriousness. He asked them questions, understood the whole situation and then told them in clear words that not being invited to a wedding is not a legal crime. For this reason FIR cannot be registered in this case.
Why did the police not register a complaint?
However, the police also admitted that the old man’s sentiments may be justified. The officers explained to him that emotional injury is a different thing but the police can take action only in those cases in which the law has been violated. After this, the police calmed the old man and sent him home and advised him to try to resolve the matter through mutual dialogue.
became a topic of discussion in the police station
This matter became a topic of discussion in the police station within some time. It was also said among the policemen that in today’s time people come to the police not only in search of law but also in search of justice and respect.
