According to the story described in Ramayana, once after returning from exile, Mother Sita was feeding food to Hanuman ji. Sita ji had prepared various dishes for him. As soon as Hanuman ji started eating, he continued eating, but even after eating many dishes, his hunger was not satisfied. Gradually all the food started ending. But Hanuman ji started demanding more food. Seeing this the mother became worried.
After this he told the whole thing to Lord Shri Ram. Then the Lord advised Mother Sita to add a basil leaf to Hanuman ji’s food. Mother Sita did as per the instructions of the Lord. This satisfied Hanuman ji’s hunger. Since then Tulsi started being offered to Hanumanji. It is believed that by offering Tulsi to Hanumanji, all the wishes are fulfilled.
That is why Tulsi is offered to Hanumanji.
According to the beliefs of Hindu religion, Tulsi group is very dear to Lord Shri Hari Vishnu, the creator of the world. It is offered to all his incarnations. Tulsi Dal is also offered to Shri Ram. Hanuman ji is a great devotee of Lord Shri Ram, hence Hanuman ji is also pleased by offering Tulsi.
