Hanuman Jayanti 2026: Hanuman Chalisa is made up of 40 verses, which is why it got the name Chalisa. There is a popular story regarding this that by the time Tulsidas finished speaking Ramcharitmanas, everyone had gone there, but an old man was sitting there. He was none other than Lord Hanuman. Tulsidas was pleased with this and recited the same 40 quatrains in front of him which are read as Chalisa today.

Even Yamraj, Kuber and the lords of the ten directions could not fully describe your glory, in such a situation how can poets, Vedas and scholars know its extent.
Why did you thank Sugriva?
Ram got the royal post and gave it ॥16॥
You did a great favor to Sugriva, introduced him to Lord Shri Ram and thus restored his kingdom of Kishkindha.
I considered your mantra as Bibhishan.
If Lankeswar is there, then the whole world will become ॥17॥
The whole world knows that Vibhishana also followed your teachings and became the king of Lanka.

Lilyo tahi sweet fruit janu ॥18॥
You swallowed the Sun God who was at a distance of countless eras, considering him as a sweet fruit.
Prabhu Mudrika meli mukha mahi.
No wonder he crossed the water. ॥19॥
It is not a surprise for you that you crossed the ocean with Lord Shri Ram’s ring in your mouth.

With your grace even the most difficult tasks in the world become easy and simple.

You are the gatekeeper at the door of Lord Shri Ram, it is not possible for anyone to enter there without your permission, that is, his darshan is also achieved only with your blessings.
All happiness is yours sir.
Why should you be afraid of the protector?
Those who take refuge in you get all kinds of happiness. When you are your own protector, fear does not exist.
Control your intensity yourself.
All three worlds trembled with fear.॥23॥
Only you can absorb your immense brilliance, all three worlds tremble at the mere sound of your roar.
Ghosts and devils do not come near.
When you hear the name Mahabir. 24 ॥
Hey Mahavir! Ghosts and vampires do not come near just by remembering your name.
Nose disease is green and everything is painful.
Chant continuously Hanumat Bira ॥ 25 ॥
O brave Hanuman ji, by continuously chanting your name all types of diseases, pain and suffering go away.
Hanuman will save you from trouble.
The one who brings attention to mind and words. ॥26॥
Those who meditate and remember Shri Hanuman ji through mind, action and words, they get freedom from all the difficulties of life by his grace.
Ram is an ascetic king over all.
Three’s work is gross, you are a slave.27॥
Lord Shri Ram is the best among the ascetic kings, and you accomplish the tasks of all the devotees who take refuge in him.
And who so ever bring desire .
I slept and got the fruits of my life ॥28॥
Whoever presents his wishes before you, ultimately gets immense and excellent results in life.
Your splendour is across all four ages .
It is the famous light of the world.
Your glory pervades all four ages. Your greatness is well known and shines throughout the universe.
You are the protector of the saints.
Asur Nikandan Ram Dulare ॥30॥
You are the protector of sages and saints, the destroyer of demons and the most beloved and cherished person of Lord Shri Ram.
Giver of eight accomplishments and nine treasures.
As Bar Din Janaki Mata ॥31॥
You have received such a boon from Mata Janaki that you can provide eight siddhis and nine types of wealth to your devotees.
Ram Rasayan your dice.
Always remain Raghupati’s servant ॥32॥
You have the chemical (bhakti rasa) of the name Shri Ram. May you always remain a devotee of Raghupati (Lord Shri Ram Ji).
Through devotion to you one obtains Sri Rama .
Forget the sorrows of many births.
Lord Shri Ram is attained only by remembering you, because the one who meditates on you is very dear to him and he gets freedom from the sufferings of many births.

Those who praise you, reach the abode of Raghunath ji in the end. If born again, then he is known as a devotee of Ram.

O brave Hanuman, whoever remembers you, all his troubles go away and all his sufferings end.
