Vishal Chaturvedi’s Hanuman Ansh, which released in theatres on August 7 crossed the Rs 100 crore mark at the box office on Sunday. As per latest report, the Chandan Anand, Shobhinaw Satyaa film has now created history at the box office by earning Rs 22.75 crore on day 31. Needless to say, the Neem Karoli Baba biopic has emerged as one of the more unexpected success stories of 2026, with the devotional drama finding an audience through its spiritual narrative and performances. At the heart of the film is Shobhinav Satyaa’s portrayal of Neem Karoli Baba, a role that, according to co-star Chandan Anand – who plays Dr Ram Nandan Bhosle – went far beyond a conventional screen performance.
Speaking exclusively to Zoom about Satyaa’s portrayal of the spiritual figure, was unequivocal in his praise. “Oh my god, he personified Baba ji,” the actor said, admitting that he was left in awe from the very first time he met his co-star.

Anand went on to describe as someone whose personality itself seemed to complement the role. “How can someone be so polite, humble and down to earth?” he said, highlighting the actor’s lack of ego despite taking on the lead role and being based in Mumbai. For Anand, Satyaa’s ability to embody the character was not merely a result of acting technique but something deeper.
“He is devoid of any ego despite portraying a lead and living in Mumbai. He is a blessed soul himself and the director has the eye of a tiger. Great hunt!!” Anand added, crediting both Satyaa and director Vishal Chaturvedi for bringing the spiritual character to life.
Interestingly, working on. The actor revealed that the experience changed the way he looks at purpose, the meaning of life and even his own identity. “Yes. It is entirely changing my thinking and my understanding of purpose, meaning of life and the way I am. I am in the process,” Anand shared. He further admitted that the film’s deeper layers may require more than one viewing to fully absorb.

“I think I will have to watch the film again. One time is not enough – the film has deeper meaning to it,” he said. Anand also opened up about portraying , a character inspired by a real-life figure. While such roles often demand extensive preparation, research and rehearsals, the actor revealed that the realities of making a low-budget film meant the process had to be far more instinctive.
“Well, we all know low budget films do not have the liberty to sit and prepare with 10-12 rehearsals and discussions. Whatever you see on the screen are mostly first takes,” Anand explained.
Rather than viewing the limitations as a hurdle, the actor believes they helped create something spontaneous. “So, the character came out on its own. It is a magical performance not by me, but through me,” he signed off.
For Anand, Hanuman Ansh became an experience that challenged his understanding of spirituality, while giving him the opportunity to witness what he describes as a deeply authentic portrayal of Neem Karoli Baba.
