Haaland scores brace as Man City dominate Man United

New Delhi: Manchester City’s Erling Haaland struck a brace in a 3-0 rout of Manchester United in the English Premier League on Sunday.

In his first start of the season, Phil Foden headed City in front from Jeremy Doku’s cross in the 18th minute.

Haaland then scored his first of the match in the 53rd minute when Doku went past Lenny Yoro to slid the ball towards the Norwegian, who chipped the ball over goalkeeper Altay Bayindir.

The 25-year-old then completed his double in the 68th when the visitors lost control of the ball and Haaland outpaced Harry Maguire to latch onto Bernardo Silva’s through to slot it past Bayindir.

With only four points from four matches, it is Man United’s worst to the league since 1992-93 season.

Salah penalty keeps Liverpool perfect

Liverpool moved to the top of the EPL standings with a last minute penalty from Mohammed Salah giving them full points against Burnley.

The defending champion won 1-0 to preserved their all-win start to the season as Salah converted from the spot in stoppage-time.

“We don’t give up. We just try to push ourselves and our team to the limit,” Salah told Sky Sports.

It was Liverpool’s third last-ditch win after dramatic winners against Bournemouth and Newcastle. They looked destined to drop their first points of the season but were awarded a penalty that turned the match around.

Referee Michael Oliver pointed to the spot when Hannibal Mejbri handled the ball in the box. Salah then blasted a powerful shot past Burnley goalkeeper Martin Dubravka.

Salah’s goal, which was scored in the fifth minute of added time, placed him fourth in the all-time list of EPL scorers within 188 goals — behind Alan Shearer (260), Harry Kane (213) and Wayne Rooney (208).
