Born in Patna in the year 1666
Guru Gobind Singh was a great philosopher, renowned poet, fearless and fearless warrior. He was skilled in war. He was also a great writer and had an expert understanding of music. Guru Gobind Singh was born in Patna in the year 1666. His childhood name was Gobind Rai. He was the only son of Guru Tegh Bahadur and Mata Gujri. Guru Gobind Singh established the Khalsa Panth on the day of Baisakhi in the year 1699.
In front of the crowd, he took out his sword from its sheath and announced that five people who had the courage to sacrifice their lives for the protection of religion should come forward. After this, Dayaram of Lahore, Hastinapur, Dharam Rai of Uttar Pradesh, Jagannath, Bhai Himmat Rai of Odisha, Bhai Mohkam Rai of Gujarat and Bhai Sahib Chand of Bidar, Karnataka came forward. Guru Gobind Singh took everyone to an adjacent tent.
Five people were made ‘Panjpyare’
After some time Guru Gobind Singh came out with these five people. At that time all five were wearing saffron colored clothes and turbans. Only then did the people present there come to know that Guru Gobind Singh had tested the courage of the five. After this he named the five people as ‘Panjpyare’. All five belonged to different Hindu castes. Not only this, Guru Gobind Singh filled water in a pan.
After this he added sugar to it and mixed it with his sabre. Then gave it to all five to drink. After this, everyone’s Hindu name was changed and they were given the surname ‘Singh’. In the city kirtan, these ‘Panjpyars’ are given a place in front of the palanquin of Guru Granth Sahib. Later, Guru Gobind Singh himself drank the nectar and became Guru Gobind Singh by adopting the title of ‘Singh’. Guru Gobind Singh also gave a slogan.
Five basic principles of Khalsa Panth
That slogan is ‘Wahe Guruji ka Khalsa, Wahe Guruji ki Fateh’. He also gave five basic principles of Khalsa Panth. He gave these basic principles to live an ideal life and to have control over oneself, which include keeping case, comb, bracelet, kachh, kirpan. These principles of Guru Gobind Singh were the path of character building. He believed that a person can fight against adverse circumstances and atrocities only by becoming a characterful person.
