Gulshan Devaiah On ‘Uncomfortable’ Visit To Mannat: SRK Was ‘Sweet’ But Felt Like ‘Outsider’ – ‘KJo, Farhan Akhtar Were There’

Gulshan Devaiah who was recently seen in Kantara Chapter 1, has an interesting story to share about visiting Shah Rukh Khan’s residence Mannat in Mumbai.

Infact, he landed up at an afterparty at the luxurious property by chance. This was with regard to a report that surfaced few years ago that Gulshan had barged in Mannat. Now, the 47-year-old has come clean and revealed the real story behind the rumour, and exactly what happened.

Gulshan did not ‘barge in’

During a recent interview with Bollywood Bubble, Gulshan shared, “I didn’t barge in, I was invited. Agar Shah Rukh Khan ke ghar mai ghusa hota toh abhi jail mai hota (If I would have barged in Shah Rukh’s house, I would have been in jail) Some journalist must have heard the word gatecrash for the first time in an English movie, and that is why they used that.”

Elaborating more about the invited visit to Mannat, Gulshan went on, “The Filmfare nominations were being announced for 2012 and Shah Rukh was also there. My nomination was also supposed to be announced but it didn’t happen because Maniesh Paul was hosting and he was too busy passing time with Madhuri Dixit; he is a huge fan. I was with my wife, Anurag Kashyap and Kalki Koechlin. We were all sitting together when Shah Rukh came and invited them to the afterparty at Mannat.”

Feeling ‘uncomfortable’ at Mannat

Gulshan revealed that while Kashyap and Kaki were hesitant to accept SRK’s invite, the superstar told them to bring him and iw then wife Kallirroi Tziafeta too. “The entrance of Mannat isn’t where people think it is. It’s actually a separate road that takes you there, but now it might get changed because it’s getting renovated. I stayed there for about three hours and I was very uncomfortable during the whole time. I felt like I didn’t belong there. But that was a realisation, I told myself that I should feel like I belong here because there is no point in whatever I am doing if I don’t feel that way. Karan Johar, Farhan Akhtar, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, everyone was there,” he shared.

Being an ‘outsider’

Though Gulshan clarified that it had nothing to do with Shah Rukh who was the best host. “Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan were very sweet to me even though it’s not their job to make me feel comfortable. Actor Joel Edgerton was there, and I think I talked to him the most. He was really friendly, and I kept looking at him thinking ‘Where have I seen him?’ I think I felt comfortable with him because he was also an outsider in that party,” he said.
