Cancer – a word that is still synonymous with fear, uncertainty and struggle for millions of families. But amidst this darkness, there are some institutions which, along with treatment, emerge as a light of hope. Gujarat Cancer and Research Institute (GCRI), Ahmedabad has become one such name, which is now trusted by the patients not only of Gujarat but of the entire country.
The data released on the occasion of World Cancer Day 2026 shows that GCRI has established itself as a national level cancer center on all four fronts – treatment, technology, research and early detection.
More than 26,810 new cancer patients were registered in GCRI in the year 2025. Of these, 9,147 patients came from outside Gujarat, which is proof that the institute has now become a strong national referral centre.
