Gujarat Titans (GT) would feel they missed out on a great opportunity in IPL 2025. They never had one of the best teams in the league or the biggest hitters – but the form of their excellent top-three and the performance of their well-rounded bowling attack was such that they often looked unbeatable.
They let their form fizzle out a bit too easily and seemed to have run out of ideas when it came to the business end. The IPL 2026 auction was their chance to make things right: add more strength and spine to the team.
With a purse of Rs. 12.90, they had the option to sign five players, including four overseas. Their major, major need was in the middle-order to back up Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan, and Jos Buttler, especially because they hadn’t helped their case by letting go of Sherfane Rutherford to the Mumbai Indians.
Any good hitters who could fit their budget would have been welcome, alongside a couple of bowling options, skilled in the art of bowling at the death.
