New Delhi: Ten years after GTA 5 took over living rooms, Rockstar’s next big bet is already shaking up the industry, and it hasn’t even launched yet. A bold prediction by gaming-focussed venture capital firm Konvoy claims Grand Theft Auto VI will earn a jaw-dropping $7.6 billion (approx. ₹64,600 crore) within just two months of release.
That’s not all. Konvoy’s team expects Take-Two Interactive, the parent company behind Rockstar, to recover its massive $2 billion (₹17,000 crore) investment in GTA 6 within the first 30 days of launch. The game is currently scheduled to release on May 26, 2026.
GTA VI: Konvoy calls it the “greatest game release of all time”
Josh Chapman, Managing Partner at Konvoy, shared the team’s full prediction in a detailed post on LinkedIn. “This will be the greatest video game release of all time,” Chapman wrote, adding that GTA 6 will shatter player, viewership, and revenue records.
According to Konvoy:
- GTA 6 will ship around 85 million units within 60 days
- The base game will be priced at $80 (₹6,800)
- Premium editions will push that figure even higher
- GTA+ subscriptions are expected to spike post-launch
One of the most interesting predictions was around how GTA 6 will likely become the next big user-generated content (UGC) platform, following in the footsteps of Roblox and Fortnite’s UEFN model. Chapman added, “It will have a UGC component that includes creator payouts for server hosts, mod creators, and more.”
200-player chaos and online heists
The predictions don’t stop at numbers. Konvoy believes GTA 6 Online will feature 200-player lobbies and “higher risk/reward dynamics where you can raid and steal items from players more easily.”
If true, that would mark a massive jump from GTA 5’s current online modes. Rockstar may be looking at a hybrid of social sandbox and high-stakes multiplayer, powered by real-money mod economies.
Hype is real, but will it match GTA 5?
To put this into context, GTA 5 has sold over 215 million copies to date. It earned $1 billion in just 3 days when it launched in 2013. Given the rising cost of games, improved monetisation through online modes, and a much bigger global audience, Konvoy’s $7.6 billion prediction may not be as wild as it sounds.
Chapman, who described himself as “just a gamer who can’t wait to play it,” said the Konvoy team internally debated the projections before sharing them publicly. The sentiment reflects what many fans feel: the wait is long, but expectations are sky-high.
Grand Theft Auto VI is expected to drop on May 26, 2026. Until then, fans will be counting every trailer view, leak, and teaser drop like it’s the jackpot.
