GT vs RCB: Kohli confronts fourth umpire after Holder’s controversial catch to dismiss Patidar – WATCH

New Delhi: An unhappy Virat Kohli confronted the fourth umpire after Jason Holder’s controversial catch to dismiss Jason Holder during the Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) IPL 2026 clash against Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Thursday, April 30.

After being asked to bat first, the defending champions got off to a good start as Kohli hit five consecutive boundaries against Kagiso Rabada in the second over. But, GT made a strong comeback as Mohammed Siraj removed Jacob Bethell for five runs in the third over, and Rabada dismissed Kohli for 28 in the next.

After two back-to-back wickets, Rajat Patidar and Devdutt Padikkal helped RCB post 59/2 in the powerplay. The duo stitched a 44-run partnership for the third wicket, helping RCB to recover from early setbacks.

The incident happened in the eighth over, when Arshad Khan bowled a short delivery, and Patidar went for a pull shot but got a top edge towards deep backward square leg. Rabada initially looked set to complete the catch, but Holder stationed there charged to his right and took a good low catch. Replays suggested that the all-rounder may have grounded the ball during the follow-through.

But the third umpire cleared the catch after a review and Patidar was adjudged out. The decision did not go down well with Kohli and the RCB camp. He was seen having an argument with the fourth umpire and looked clearly unhappy with the decision.
