GST 2.0 Reforms: Vaishnaw targets Congress
Taking aim at the Opposition parties, Vaishnaw said the Opposition is not happy, naturally. Further hitting at the political opponents, especially the Congress, he said the tax rates imposed during the UPA regime included 30 percent tax on cement, now it’s 18 percent. The tax on footwear is much lower than what it was under the UPA regime, he added.
During the UPA regime, there was a tax scare. Modi brought together all the states to create a single tax system from the web of taxes. This will lead to GDP growth because demand will increase, leading to increased industry and employment, the minister asserted.
