Right time to grow cauliflower
It is very easy to grow cauliflower at home. For this, first of all you have to choose the right time. The season from October to January is most suitable for planting cabbage. That means this time is best for growing cabbage. Cauliflower grows very well in cold weather. If you plant it in summer season then the plant will not grow well. Besides, its flowers will also remain small. Therefore, whenever you grow cabbage, plant it at the beginning of winter. You can use seeds to plant cauliflower. First of all, germinate the seeds in a seedling tray or small pot. When 4-5 leaves emerge from the plant, then shift it to a bigger pot.
How should the pot be?
Cabbage requires more space to grow. In such a situation, when you plant this plant at home, you will have to take a pot at least 12 to 14 inches deep and wide. There should be good holes in the surface of the pot so that water can drain out without getting accumulated. Because if water remains stagnant in the pot, the roots of the plant may rot. If there is a garden in front of your house, then you can grow cabbage by making small beds there.
Prepare soil like this
To plant cauliflower, it is important to have the right soil. For this you can use friable and fertile soil. Prepare manure by mixing cow dung, vermi-compost or leaf manure in this soil. Keep in mind that the pH level of the soil should be between 6-7. Because if the soil is too hard then the roots will not spread properly and the plant will not be able to get the nutrients properly.
At what time and how much water to give?
Neither give too much nor too little water to the cauliflower plant. It is better to water the plant when the soil feels slightly dry. Because giving too much water can cause the roots of the plant to rot and the flowers can also turn black. In winter season, watering 2-3 times a week is enough. But check the soil and water in summer. Apart from this, show the plant 5 to 6 hours of sunlight daily. The plant can burn in very strong sunlight. The best temperature for cauliflower plants is considered to be 15 to 25 degrees Celsius.
Keep these important things in mind
When flowers start appearing in the cauliflower plant, cover it with a cloth. This keeps the flowers shiny. Apart from this, keep removing weeds. If the plant is infested with insects, spray it with neem oil or neem cake. If you want to keep the vegetable completely organic, then do not use any kind of chemical or pesticide for its growth.
Right time to harvest
The flowers are ready to be plucked only after 90 to 120 days of planting the cauliflower plant. But you have to check whether the flowers are white and completely hard or not. If so, then you can pluck the cauliflower. But if you do not pluck the flowers for a long time, they start turning yellow and there is a risk of insects getting there. Therefore, harvest on time.
