Bengaluru: A shocking case of negligence during treatment in the hospital has come to light. A nurse at Chinmaya Mission Hospital in Indiranagar, Bengaluru, amputated the finger of a 6-month-old child. The incident occurred when the nurse was removing the IV drip from the child’s arm. In this matter, Indiranagar police has registered a case against the nurse, doctor and hospital management.
When the fever got cured, the family got a lot of pain.
This incident happened on February 24 between 3 pm and 8 pm. Vijayakumar J. The man named had admitted his 6-month-old son Balkumar V to the hospital on February 19 due to high fever. The child was being treated under the supervision of Dr. Meenakshi. The doctor discharged the child on 24 February. After paying the hospital bill, a nurse named Anita came to remove the IV drip in the child’s hand. While removing the drip, Anita accidentally cut the little finger on the child’s left hand with scissors. As soon as the finger was cut, there was a commotion there. On the complaint of father Vijaykumar, the police have taken the nurse into custody.
Police registered a case of negligence against the hospital
Immediately after the incident, doctors at the hospital dressed the child’s wound and applied plaster. He assured the family that the injury was not serious and that due to the child’s young age the wound would heal on its own. But, Vijaykumar lodged a police complaint demanding strict action against nurse Anita, doctors and hospital management for this negligence. Police said that a case has been registered on the basis of the complaint and the investigation is ongoing.
