The main objective of this scheme is to encourage women for self-employment and to provide them financial assistance so that they can start work in their chosen field of work. Under the scheme, women will be given assistance of ₹10,000 in the first phase, and later additional assistance of up to ₹2 lakh can be given depending on the review of their business.

Eligibility and conditions

Only women whose age is between 18 to 60 years can avail the benefit of this scheme. The woman or her husband should not be an income tax payer. Women working in government jobs (regular or on contract) or their husbands are not eligible for this scheme. It will be mandatory for the woman to join Jeevika’s Self Help Group (SHG). If a woman has not yet joined any group, after application, community resource workers will get in touch with her and she will be added to the group.

Women from urban areas who have not yet joined the Self Help Group can apply online by visiting the website www.brlps.in. While applying it will be necessary to upload the following documents, scanned copy of Aadhar card, bank passbook, passport size photo, signature, also it is mandatory to provide information about mobile number, Aadhar number, bank account details and type of employment to be started.

Women are getting information and assistance

Help desks have been set up in municipal corporation offices, where women are being given information about the scheme. Municipal Commissioner Shubham Kumar said that a large number of women in urban areas are showing interest in this scheme. It will be mandatory for women to undergo training before availing the benefits of the scheme. Also, physical verification of all the applications will be done and it will be ensured that the woman is a resident of Bihar.
