Speculation around actor Govinda and his wife Sunita Ahuja’s divorce has resurfaced again on social media. Amid all the rumours, the actor’s manager has dismissed it as old news and maintained that they are not separating.
Several media reports claimed that Sunita filed for divorce on December 5, 2024, in the Bandra Family Court, citing adultery, cruelty, and desertion.
Govinda’s manager reacted to the rumours and told PTI, “This is the same old news which came out six-seven months ago. Sunita had filed a divorce petition six to seven months ago; now everything is getting settled. In a week or so, everyone will hear the news.”
“The whole family is going to celebrate the Ganesh Chaturthi festival together, for which Sunita is busy doing the preparation,” he added.
Amid speculations, Govinda’s lawyer, Lalit Bindal, also reacted to the reports and dismissed them, calling it “old news.”
Both Govinda and Sunita were unavailable for comment.
Previously, Sunita spoke openly about the actor’s long break from films and urged him to return to the big screen.
In an interview with Zoom, Sunita said that Govinda is a legendary actor and should not be wasting his time at home. “I always tell Govinda that you are a legend star, aap 90s ke raaja the (you were the 90s king). Today’s generation of kids dances to your songs. I keep asking him to have better company. Why is a legend like you sitting at home? Actors of your age are doing so much work, including Anil Kapoor, Suniel Shetty, and Jackie Shroff. Why don’t you work? We miss seeing Govinda in films.”
Govinda, who was one of the biggest stars in Hindi cinema during the 90s and early 2000s, saw his fame decline after 2008. He tried to make a comeback with supporting roles in films like ‘Raavan’ and ‘Kill Dil’, but it didn’t revive his career. He was last seen in the 2019 film ‘Rangeela Raja’, which failed at the box office. Known for blockbusters like ‘Coolie No.1’, ‘Hero No.1’, and ‘Raja Babu’, Govinda has been away from the spotlight for years.
