Government gave bumper gift, fasting plate will become so cheap in Navratri

New rates of GST will be implemented from the first day of Navratri

There is a great news for the common families of the country and those who fast on festivals. Taking an important decision on 3 September, the Central Government has announced a big cut in GST (GST) on everyday food and kitchen items. These changes have been made under GST 2.0 and will be applicable from September 22, 2025 i.e. from the same day when this year’s Navratri is starting.

During Navratri, millions of people consume fruit and fast plate. These plates usually include butter, cheese, milk, dates, dry fruits, fruits, ghee and some special fasting food like parathas, khakhara, dried fruits etc. Now the tax on all these things has either been removed or has been reduced considerably. Due to which the plate of the fast will also become cheaper.

How cheap will Navratri special plate be?

Suppose it used to cost about 200 rupees till now to prepare a fast plate during Navratri. A large part of this expenditure used to increase due to tax. But after the implementation of GST 2.0, the same plate will be ready for about 160 to 170 rupees. Ie, it can be saved directly 15 to 20%.

For example, dry fruits such as cashew nuts, almonds, pistachios and dates used to be 12% GST, now it has been reduced to 5%. At the same time, things like milk, cheese, roti, khakhara and paratha will no longer be taxed. Apart from this, tax on dairy products like butter, ghee, condensed milk has also been reduced from 12% to 5%.

Tax burden will also be removed from the kitchen

With these changes, not only those fasting, but every common house will get great relief. Everyday things like UHT milk, packaged cheese, rotis and paratha will now be absolutely tax free. This means that the tax that used to be added on buying goods from the grocery store will now be reduced. Also, the tax on prepared food products like biscuits, cakes, chocolate, ice cream and soup has also been reduced from 18% to 5%.
