Govatsa Dwadashi Vrat 2025: Govatsa Dwadashi is considered a very holy day. This is a day to express reverence and gratitude towards the cow and its calf. Govatsa Dwadashi is known as Vasu Baras in Maharashtra and Vagh Baras in Gujarat. It is also called Bachh Baras, Nandini Vrat or Vatsa Dwadashi. Cow and calf are worshiped on this day. Not only this, things made from cow’s milk are not eaten on this day.

Govatsa Dwadashi is celebrated every year on the Dwadashi date of Krishna Paksha of Kartik month. According to the Panchang, the Dwadashi date of Krishna Paksha of Kartik month will start on Friday, October 17, 2025, at 11:12 am this year. This date will end the next day on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at 12:18 pm. In such a situation, Govatsa Dwadashi will be celebrated on 17th October.
Govatsa Dwadashi 2025 Puja Muhurat
Worship during Pradosh period on the day of Govatsa Dwadashi is considered best. On this day, Pradoshkaal Govatsa Dwadashi Muhurta will be from 05:49 pm to 08:20 pm. In this way, approximately two and a half hours will be available for the worship of Govatsa Dwadashi.
Govatsa Dwadashi Puja Method ( Govatsa Dwadashi Puja Vidhi)
- On the day of Govatsa Dwadashi, one should take bath in the morning and wear clean clothes.
- After this, a resolution should be taken to worship mother cow and her calf.
- After this, the mother cow and her calf should be bathed.
- After this, their horns should be decorated and garlanded.
- Tilak of mother cow and her calf should be done with roli and sandalwood etc.
- Mother cow and her calf should be worshiped with devotion by showing incense sticks.
- Then the dough ball should be mixed with jaggery and fed to the cow.
- Aarti of Goddess Cow should be performed by lighting a lamp.
- One should listen to the story of Govatsa Dwadashi.
- The fast should be broken the next day on Trayodashi Tithi after cow worship.

On the day of Govatsa Dwadashi, one should not consume wheat, rice and products made from cow’s milk. Buffalo milk, fruits, or plain food can be consumed. Knife or any sharp object should not be used. Consumption of Tamasic things is prohibited.
