Annakut Puja 2025: Govardhan Puja is celebrated on Pratipada of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month and this year this festival will be celebrated on 22 October. This festival is dedicated to the amazing act of lifting Govardhan mountain by Lord Krishna. On this day devotees worship Govardhan Mountain with reverence and devotion. During the puja, an offering of various types of grains, pulses, sweets, fruits and vegetables is prepared in front of the mountain, which is called Annakoot. Annakoot means mountain of food and is considered a symbol of devotion, dedication and prosperity and happiness in life.

Traditionally, on the day of Govardhan Puja, 56 types of offerings, called Chhappan Bhog, are offered to Lord Krishna. These offerings include various types of grains, pulses, fruits, sweets, vegetables and dishes, which symbolize the diversity and richness of life. From a religious point of view, this number has special significance and is considered a symbol of Lord Krishna’s omnipotence, kindness and protection. 56 offerings include butter-mishri, desi ghee, rice, wheat, moong, urad, lentils, gram, kidney beans, chickpeas, potatoes, gourd, ridge gourd, lady’s finger, cow dung bean, bitter gourd, pumpkin, brinjal, spinach, banana, apple, guava, orange, grapes, pomegranate, papaya, mango, coconut, kheer, halwa, laddu, peda, rasgulla, Barfi, Chakli, Puri, old sweets, Khaja, Modak, Ghevar, Pakora, Dumplings, Upma, Khichdi, Curd, Mathri, Chutney, Kadhi-rice and Papad etc. are included.
