CM Yogi said that the tradition of pilgrimage in India is not just religious, but it is also a strong means of connecting the society and the nation. He described Kailash Mansarovar’s journey as an experience which makes a person mentally and spiritually strong. He also reminded that the establishment of Peethas in all four directions by Adi Shankaracharya also reflects this feeling of unity.
According to the Chief Minister, today the number of devotees at pilgrimage sites is increasing rapidly.
- About 164 crore devotees will reach the state in 2025
- Of these, 66 crore people participated in Prayagraj Mahakumbh.
On the one hand, the government considers the increasing crowd at major pilgrimage sites like Varanasi, Ayodhya and Mathura Vrindavan as a challenge, while on the other hand it also considers it a big opportunity for development.
