BJP and RJD are face to face in Goreyakothi Assembly elections 2025. The difference in votes here has been tight from 2010 to 2020. Yadav, Bhumihar and Muslim voters can change the game. Will history repeat itself in 2025 or will there be a new wave?
Goreyakothi Assembly Election 2025: Goreyakothi Assembly Election 2025 is considered an important seat in the politics of Bihar. The elections here have always been triangular or tightly contested. From 2010 to 2020, this seat has seen a fierce contest between BJP, RJD and JDU. The biggest question is who will the voters choose in 2025 – will the BJP maintain its dominance, or will the RJD-JDU together change the game?
2010: BJP showed strength
In the 2010 assembly elections, BJP registered a big victory on this seat for the first time. BJP candidate Bhumendra Narayan Singh got 42,533 votes, while RJD’s Indradev Prasad got 28,512 votes. The victory margin was 14,021 votes. This result proved decisive for BJP.
2015: Grand alliance changed the game
When RJD-JDU-Congress came together in 2015, the picture changed. RJD’s Satyadev Prasad Singh won by getting 70,965 votes. Devesh Kant Singh of BJP got 63,314 votes and lost. This time the victory margin was about 7,651 votes. This election clearly shows that when Yadav-Muslim and other grand alliance votes come together, BJP faces difficulty.
2020: BJP’s strong comeback
The competition became more exciting in 2020. BJP candidate Devesh Kant Singh secured 87,368 votes and defeated RJD’s Nutan Devi. The RJD candidate got 75,477 votes and the margin of defeat was 11,891 votes. With this result, BJP showed that their hold at the grassroots level is getting stronger.
Note: Devesh Kant Singh, who has studied till graduation, is not charged with any criminal case. His total assets are around Rs 3.87 crore and he also has a loan of Rs 56 lakh.
game of caste equation
- Yadav, Bhumihar and Muslim voters have the most influence in Goreyakothi.
- Yadav: Traditionally supporting RJD
- Bhumihar: BJP’s strong vote bank
- Muslims: divided between RJD and JDU
Important thing: Apart from this, Rajput, Kushwaha, Paswan, Barber and extremely backward classes also affect the electoral equation.
2025 elections: Interesting contest decided
JDU may have to face a double challenge here in 2025. On the one hand, BJP’s increasing support base, on the other hand, if the seat sharing of Grand Alliance goes in favor of RJD, then there can be polarization of Yadav-Muslim votes. This time BJP may give ticket to a local Bhumihar or backward class leader, while RJD will try to create a Yadav-Muslim equation.
