Gorakhpur Weather Latest Update Today 1st January 2026: On the first day of the new year i.e. 1st January 2026, there is going to be a double blow of severe cold and dense fog in most of the districts of Uttar Pradesh. Amidst the celebrations and excitement, an alert from the Meteorological Department has also come. According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), there is a possibility of very dense fog in 35 districts of UP including Gorakhpur, Agra, Kanpur and Varanasi on January 1. During this period, cold winds will blow, which will increase the chill and melting.
Apart from western UP, districts like Gorakhpur, Deoria, Mau, Ballia, Ghazipur, Azamgarh in Purvanchal will be wrapped in fog on Thursday morning. However, there may be a slight change in the weather as the day progresses.
On January 1, 2026, the maximum day temperature in Gorakhpur is likely to be around 15.3 degrees Celsius and night temperature will be around 9 degrees. Along with this, due to cold wave in Gorakhpur, people will be seen shivering even during the day.
On Thursday, January 1, Gorakhpur, Kushinagar, Deoria, Lucknow, Basti, Gonda, Ghazipur, Mau, Maharajganj, Siddharth Nagar, Prayagraj, Fatehpur, Sonbhadra, Mirzapur, Chandauli, Varanasi, Banda, Chitrakoot, Kaushambi, Sant Ravi Das Nagar, An alert regarding fog has been issued in Ballia, Sant Kabir Nagar, Balrampur, Shravasti, Bahraich, Kanpur, Agra, Firozabad, Etawah, Auraiya, Jalaun, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Jhansi and Lalitpur districts.
The weather department has also expressed the possibility of rain in some districts of western Uttar Pradesh. According to IMD, about 17 districts of Uttar Pradesh including Saharanpur and Shamli may experience rain on the first day of the new year.
