Google Maps to show verified Aadhaar Seva Kendras across India

New Delhi: Finding an authorised Aadhaar centre in a busy Indian city is not always simple. Many people still rely on random search results or local advice, and that can lead to confusion or even visits to unauthorised centres. Now, the government wants to fix that with the help of Google Maps.

On February 26, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology announced that the Unique Identification Authority of India has partnered with Google to display authorised Aadhaar centres directly on Google Maps . The rollout is expected in the coming months.

Aadhaar centres to be digitally mapped on Google Maps

Under this partnership, when users search for Aadhaar services on Google Maps, they will be directed to verified centres managed by UIDAI . The aim is to improve ease of access, reduce misinformation and make sure residents visit only authorised facilities.

UIDAI currently operates over 60,000 Aadhaar centres across the country, including Aadhaar Seva Kendras . With the integration, these centres will appear in a structured and verified format on the map interface.

Services and accessibility details to be shown

Google Maps will not just show the location. It will display the type of services offered at each centre, such as adult enrolment, child enrolment, address updates and mobile number updates . This means users can choose the right centre based on what they need.

The listings will also include operational details like opening hours and, where available, information about accessibility features including divyang friendly infrastructure and parking facilities . That can help families plan visits in advance.

UIDAI CEO Bhuvnesh Kumar said the collaboration focuses on improving ease of living for Aadhaar number holders by making it simpler and more transparent to locate authorised centres .

Future plans may include appointment booking

In a later phase, UIDAI plans to use Google Business Profile to manage centre information and respond to public feedback . This could make the system more responsive over time.

The partnership will also explore enabling direct appointment booking through Google Maps . If implemented, residents may be able to schedule Aadhaar visits directly inside the app.
