Google’s report divides Indian travelers into four groups: nostalgic travelers, peace seekers, first-time travelers and religious pilgrims. The reason for travel and the way of planning is different for each group.
In recent years, there has been a big change in the way Indians travel. The reasons for traveling are different for many people. Some are interested in seeing places, while others like taking part in programs held at a particular place or visiting spiritual places. Keeping this in mind, Google has divided Indian travelers into four groups.
Google’s new report ‘Travel Rewired: In ‘Decoding the Indian Traveller’, Indian travelers have been divided into four types. Google’s list includes people who value memories, seekers of peace, first-time travelers and religious pilgrims. Let us see what are the characteristics of these four groups.
1. Those who travel for memories
You travel not to see a place, but to live the moment. For example, you go to see Taylor Swift’s show in Paris instead of seeing Paris. Sometimes it could be a World Cup match, or a film festival. Simply put, your trip is planned around an experience you can’t miss. Such people are fond of watching long videos about these things. Google says that about 71% of travelers depend on YouTube for this reason.
2. Those looking for peace and tranquility
Google has placed travelers who give priority to peace, tranquility and comfortable facilities in the ‘Globetrotter’ category. These are the people who plan their trips very carefully and without any rush, by reading reviews and finding out which airline lounge is the best. Business class seats, good food, spa appointments and well-designed rooms mean a lot to them. This type of search and review may take a week or more. These people follow travel content creators. Google’s report says that this is done not only for inspiration, but also for concrete information.
3. First time travelers
First time travelers are always very excited. There may also be some nervousness. These people are very conscious about their budget. It could be a short vacation, the first trip without parents, or the first vacation with friends. In this case, you don’t wait for anything. The thinking is ‘ready for anything’. You book the plan quickly. Nearly 40% of travelers finalize their plans within 24 hours of deciding to go. You trust YouTube. Google says that about 88% people adopt this pattern.
4. Religious Pilgrim
Your journey may be related to spirituality. These plans may differ from the normal travel calendar. Festival dates are important. Auspicious days are important. Family availability may also be important at times. If all this is correct, Google calls you a religious pilgrim. You may be Gen-Z, Millennial or Gen-X. The spiritual journey is not limited to any one age. Google believes that trips to Varanasi, Haridwar, Ayodhya or South Indian temples are as much about faith as they are about culture and family. About 92% of travelers rely on YouTube before arriving. Luxury rarely matters to them. So tell me, which of these groups do you fall into?
