Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday, August 15, announced a new initiative for the state’s youth on the occasion of the 80th Independence Day, with a focus on employment and business opportunities.
Speaking at the Independence Day celebration programme in Lucknow, Yogi announced the launch of the Youth Brigade Scheme, formally known as the Mukhyamantri Yuva Udyami Vikas Abhiyan. The initiative aims to provide significant support to young people in the areas of employment and business.
The Chief Minister also said that the Uttar Pradesh government will soon introduce a new youth policy aimed at strengthening skills, innovation and employment opportunities for the younger generation.
Youth Brigade Scheme announced on Independence Day
Announcing the initiative, Yogi Adityanath said the Uttar Pradesh government was launching the Youth Brigade Scheme to provide stronger support to young people in employment and business.
The announcement is part of the state’s broader focus on encouraging youth entrepreneurship and creating employment opportunities within Uttar Pradesh.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the Mukhyamantri Yuva Udyami Vikas Abhiyan, through which the state is supporting young people seeking to establish their own businesses.
The government has said its efforts are aimed at helping young people become self-employed and reducing the need to migrate to other states in search of work.
New youth policy for Gen Z, Gen Alpha
Alongside the scheme announcement, Yogi Adityanath said Uttar Pradesh will soon introduce a new youth policy keeping the changing needs and aspirations of Gen Z and Gen Alpha in mind.
The proposed policy will take an integrated approach towards skills, innovation and employment. The focus will be on helping young people develop their capabilities and access new opportunities.
The Chief Minister said the government’s resolve is to ensure that every young person has access to skills, innovation and employment.
AI, robotics, semiconductors among focus areas
The Uttar Pradesh government is also focusing on emerging technologies and industries that could create new career and employment opportunities for young people.
The areas being highlighted include artificial intelligence, machine learning, semiconductors, data centres, robotics, cybersecurity and agritech.
The expansion of these sectors is expected to support investment and create new employment opportunities while giving young people access to technology-driven careers.
Focus on employment within Uttar Pradesh
Yogi Adityanath said the government’s broader objective is to ensure that young people do not have to leave Uttar Pradesh in search of employment.
“Today, the youth of UP has become free from the problem of migration. Our resolve is that every youth should have skills, innovation and employment in their hands,” he said.
The government has been promoting entrepreneurship, skill development and investment as part of its employment strategy. The new Youth Brigade Scheme and the proposed youth policy are intended to strengthen these efforts further.
