Lucknow: In a major news announcement by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanat, rice mills across the state will receive 1 percent recovery rebate for non-hybrid paddy threshing. The decision will help nearly 13-15 lakh farmers and more than 2,000 rice millers.
The chief minister also announced a package of Rs 167 crore under the package. The step has been taken with an aim to speed up the paddy procurement process and also boost investment in the agriculture sector in the state.
The step will help in employment opportunities
While the step is expected to encourage 2 lakh employment opportunities, the decision will also bring national savings, Yogi Adityanath said. He also expressed confidence that rice racks will no longer be required to be imported from other countries for the Public Distribution System.
This may be noted that the Uttar Pradesh Government has already provided a 3 per cent recovery rebate on threshing of hybrid rice. But now the new rule announcing 1 percent recovery relief for non-hybrid paddy threshing will benefit the rice industry further.
Even as the state government had been providing an average of Rs 100 crore in reimbursements every year, this year’s additional relief is expected to increase to to Rs 167 crore. This decision will benefit both farmers and the rice industry across the state.
