Maharashtra Electric Vehicle Policy: Toll tax on electric vehicles (EV) will be waived in Maharashtra. The Assembly Speaker has directed the government to implement it within 8 days and refund the toll collected earlier.
There is good news for people driving electric vehicles in Maharashtra. Now the toll for their vehicle will be waived off. In fact, Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar directed the government in the House on Wednesday that the toll waiver given to all electric vehicles (e-vehicles) in the state should be implemented within 8 days. Not only this, he further said that even after the implementation of toll waiver, action should be taken to return the toll amount collected to the vehicle owners.
Announcement was made under Maharashtra Electric Vehicle Policy
In fact, in the month of September this year, the Maharashtra government had announced 100 percent toll tax waiver for electric vehicles on major highways and expressways of the state under the Maharashtra Electric Vehicle Policy 2025. Regarding this, MLA Shankar Jagtap had raised this question during the question-answer period in the Assembly today.
Speaker Narvekar said that now the government should implement this
Responding to MLA Shankar Jagtap, Speaker Narvekar said that when the government has announced toll waiver for e-vehicles, it cannot step back from it now. Therefore, clear instructions should be issued to all toll points across the state not to collect toll within eight days. Apart from the acceptor, state government minister Dada Bhuse said that soon necessary reforms will be made in the toll process. It has taken time due to technical reasons to implement toll waiver, but it will be completed soon.
Instructions given to increase charging stations
The speaker further said that the number of electric vehicles is increasing rapidly in the state. Therefore, in view of the increasing usage, the number of charging stations should be increased across the state. The capacity of charging stations should also be increased, so that e-vehicle drivers do not take much time to charge their vehicles and can utilize their time properly.
