Director Pawan Basamsetti, who showcased his writing and comedy skills in his debut film “Rangabali”, is currently working on a Telugu-Tamil entertainer featuring Satya and Yogi Babu.
The film is produced by Nagarjuna Reddy and Pawan Basamsetti under the Dream Movie Makers and Nayavayu Chitralu banners.
The makers introduced the film through a lively title glimpse today, revealing an unusual concept. The project brings the Telugu and Tamil worlds together and is being described as a “Telumil” film.
The glimpse uses food as the starting point for this Telugu-Tamil connection.
A Telugu man and a Tamil man are shown enjoying their respective dishes — biryani with a cool drink on one side and idli with sambar on the other. Their amusing argument over which cuisine is superior sets up the film’s bigger surprise.
A third character then suggests that there is a far more exciting combination than their food choices.
The answer arrives with the entry of Satya and Yogi Babu, both dressed in white. Their introduction is followed by a fun explanation of the story, which revolves around a love story with elements of crime and action. The glimpse ends with the unveiling of the title, “Golden Bhagyam”.
Pawan Basamsetti’s idea of pairing Satya and Yogi Babu gives the project a distinct identity. More interestingly, the actors switch linguistic territories for the film. Satya is shown speaking Tamil, while Yogi Babu communicates in Telugu.
With two proven comedy performers at the centre, “Golden Bhagyam” is designed as a humour-driven entertainer. Jayashree and Athiraj play the female leads.
The film’s technical team includes cinematographer Bablu Aju and music composer Pawan CH.
The makers have even turned the release-date announcement into part of the fun. The film was initially announced for Sankranthi, but after moving beyond the festival season, the team has now simply stated that it will release sometime this year.
