Gold Price Today: What Is The Latest MCX Rate?
Gold futures registered another decline during Friday’s trading session as weak spot demand weighed on prices. The December delivery contract on the MCX lost Rs 1,230, or 0.86 per cent, to close at Rs 1,42,079 per 10 grams.
The latest available futures price subsequently stood at Rs 1,42,150 per 10 grams, down Rs 1,159 from the previous settlement of Rs 1,43,309.
With the exchange shut on Saturday and Sunday, these figures represent the latest available market data rather than live weekend trading prices.
For retail buyers, the price may differ depending on the city, purity, taxes and other applicable charges. The rate quoted for jewellery may also include making charges, which are separate from the price of gold itself.
Gold Rate In Delhi And International Markets
Gold prices in Delhi declined sharply on Friday amid a combination of international market weakness, higher crude oil prices and a stronger US dollar.
According to the All India Sarafa Association, the price of gold with 99.9 per cent purity fell by Rs 1,900 to Rs 1,46,100 per 10 grams, inclusive of taxes. The metal had been priced at Rs 1,48,000 per 10 grams on Thursday.
In the international spot market, gold initially fell below $4,000 per ounce before recovering some ground. It was subsequently quoted at $4,024.37 per ounce.
Meanwhile, gold prices in New York futures declined by 0.26 per cent to $4,014.23 per ounce. Bullions data placed the international price around $4,010 per ounce.
These movements highlight the influence of overseas prices and currency fluctuations on the domestic bullion market.
Why Are Gold Prices Falling? Experts Explain
Market analysts have pointed to several factors behind the recent decline, including a stronger dollar, rising bond yields, higher crude oil prices and concerns about persistent inflation.
Saumil Gandhi, senior analyst for commodities at HDFC Securities, said that gold prices in the domestic market had fallen to their lowest levels since early July, tracking weak signals from global markets.
Pinky Yadav, commodity analyst at Choice Broking, attributed the pressure to the strengthening US dollar, rising bond yields and concerns that geopolitical tensions in West Asia could keep inflation elevated.
According to Yadav, crude oil prices had climbed to around $115 per barrel, adding to concerns about inflation and the possibility that interest rates could remain high for an extended period.
Higher interest rates can weigh on gold because the precious metal does not generate interest income. When investors expect interest rates to remain elevated, interest-bearing assets may become relatively more attractive, putting pressure on gold demand.
The direction of the dollar and bond yields, along with developments in crude oil markets and geopolitical conditions, will therefore remain important factors for gold prices in the coming sessions.
