Why are gold prices falling?
1. America-Iran war
There is tension in the Middle East due to the ongoing war between Israel, America and Iran. This situation has directly affected the price of gold. Due to this reason, there is a continuous decline in gold in the last 5 trading days.
2. Profit booking
Gold had gained momentum in the beginning of this year, now investors are withdrawing their profits through profit booking, due to which the prices have fallen. Its effect is visible to a great extent in India.
Gold cheaper by Rs 25,000 from record high
On January 29, 2026, gold was at its all-time high of Rs 1.76 lakh, but if we look at today’s situation, it has become cheaper by about Rs 25,000 from its high level. The price of gold on December 31, 2025 was around Rs 1.33 lakh, which is around Rs 1.47 lakh today.
