Kia India has introduced the Kia Sorento in the Indian market at introductory prices starting at Rs 27.99 lakh for the diesel variant and Rs 29.49 lakh for the hybrid variant (ex-showroom), marking the automaker’s entry into India’s premium three-row SUV segment.
The Sorento also marks Kia’s first hybrid offering in India and introduces the global debut of the Kia AI Assistant with real-time generative AI capabilities on the India-spec model.
Positioned as one of Kia’s most successful global SUV nameplates, the Sorento combines the company’s global design philosophy with advanced in-car technology, safety features, premium comfort and multiple powertrain options.
The Sorento Hybrid is offered with all-wheel drive (AWD), which Kia claims makes it the first SUV in its segment in India to combine a hybrid powertrain with AWD. The company has also introduced the Sorento with a diesel powertrain option.
The SUV comes with several claimed first-in-segment features, including a Digital Inside Rear View Mirror (IRVM), Smart Dashcam with front and rear cameras, Remote Smart Parking Assist, a 220V power outlet and a windshield Head-Up Display.
Official deliveries of the Kia Sorento began nationwide on September 4, 2026.
Commenting on the launch, Gwanggu Lee, Managing Director and CEO, Kia India, said the Sorento’s arrival marked a significant milestone in the company’s India journey as it entered the premium three-row SUV segment.
“The arrival of the Kia Sorento represents a defining milestone for Kia India as we enter the premium three-row SUV for the first time. We are doing so with one of Kia’s most successful global nameplates, bringing Indian customers the most advanced Sorento yet,” he said.
Lee said the Sorento had been built in India for Indian customers and would offer a combination of premium features, powertrain choices and advanced technology.
He added that the model brings two significant firsts for Kia India — its first hybrid offering and the global debut of Kia AI Assistant with real-time generative AI capabilities on the India-spec Sorento.
“More than expanding our portfolio, Sorento reflects our commitment to bringing globally proven products and future-ready technologies to meet the evolving aspirations of Indian customers,” Lee said.
