An engineering student was murdered by his girlfriend’s family in Telangana. He was called home on the pretext of marriage and was beaten with a cricket bat, due to which he died. Police are investigating the case from the angle of honor killing.
Hyderabad: An engineering student was murdered by his girlfriend’s family. He was called to the house on the pretext of talking about marriage. The deceased has been identified as Jyoti Shravan Sai, a B.Tech second year student. This heart-wrenching incident happened in Sangareddy district of Telangana. Circle Inspector Naresh of Aminpur told that Jyoti Shravan Sai and 19 year old Sreeja were in love with each other. Jyoti Shravan Sai was a student of Computer Science and Engineering at St. Peter’s Engineering College, Masamguda. Sreeja’s family was against this relationship from the beginning.
Invited to home for marriage and beaten to death
Well, a few days ago Sreeja’s parents called Shravan home to talk about the marriage. But as soon as Shravan reached there, Sreeja’s relatives started beating him with cricket bats. They attacked his head and entire body. He suffered serious head injuries and broke his leg and ribs. He was taken to a nearby private hospital, but by then he was dead.
Aminpur police have registered a case of murder. The investigating officers have also recovered the cricket bat used in the murder. The body has been sent for postmortem. Police said that they have started investigating who had beaten the student. Police are also finding out who other members of the family were involved in this incident apart from the parents. The police is also investigating from this angle whether this is a case of honor killing.
