Gigi Dall’Igna, General Director of Ducati Corse, analyzed the chaotic French Grand Prix in a LinkedIn post. The Italian described the race as “utterly crazy” and marked by unpredictable weather conditions that resulted in constant changes and crashes.
His words convey particular admiration for Johann Zarco’s victory, achieved thanks to impeccable riding in wet conditions.
‘A race about which little can be said, and certainly not because it was lacking in unexpected twists, since it was utterly crazy and punctuated by constant ups and downs with uncertain weather, bike changes and crashes, especially in the first part,’ the General Director of Ducati Corse began in his analysis of the French GP.
Dall’Igna continued by characterizing the type of event that spectators witnessed: ‘One of those races that should simply be watched rather than commented on, one that recounts its own story to then lend itself to some interesting considerations and assessments.’ The Italian manager thus recognized the unique and almost indescribable nature of the French race.
When asked about the competitive context created by the adverse weather conditions, the manager explained: ‘Those races where everyone gets afforded a chance at achieving the podium provided the right choices are timeous and even lucky, a gamble in the total chaos that gets created.’ This statement underlines how exceptional circumstances leveled the playing field.
The head of the Italian team concluded with sincere praise for the winner: ‘And if one then makes the most of an impeccable ride in wet conditions securing an unhoped-for but most certainly well deserved win: heartfelt congratulations Johann Zarco!’ Dall’Igna thus expressed his admiration for how the French rider mastered the difficult track conditions.
