Meerut Metro Inauguration: The Meerut Metro Project can be flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Navratri. The 38.60 km long metro will have a total of 13 stations, including elevated, underground and grassroots stations.

The dream of Meerut, the largest city of western Uttar Pradesh, is now on the verge of fulfilling. The metro project that was waiting for years has now reached the final stage. On the auspicious occasion of Navratri, on any day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi can give a gift to the passengers by flagging the Meerut Metro. This project will not only start Meerut but will start a new era of transportation for the entire NCR.

How did the journey of Meerut Metro start?

The blueprint of the Meerut Metro was formed in 2016, when Rail India Technical and Economic Services (RITES) submitted its detailed report to the government. After this, on 8 March 2019, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation of Meerut Metro and Rapid Rail Project. Construction work started in June 2019 and now the project is on the verge of completion.

  • Ground level station: Modipuram depot

Now who has the responsibility?

Meerut Metro is currently owned by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC). NCRTC will take over the responsibility of its operation and management.

After the commencement of Meerut Metro, it will get a direct connection with Delhi-Meerut Rapid Rail. With this, passengers will be able to reach Delhi, Ghaziabad and other parts of NCR in a very short time.
