Ghaziabad schools to remain closed from tomorrow? Check official orders, dates, reason, other details

Ghaziabad: In view of the ongoing Kanwar Yatra, all the primary, upper primary, and secondary schools recognized by the CBSE and ICSE boards, or running under technical education, higher education or madarsa or Sanskrit boards in Ghaziabad will remain closed from July 17 to July 23. The Kanwar Yatra will conclude on July 23 after devotees will offer the holy Ganga water to Lord Shiva.

As per the official order issued by the District Magistrate of Ghaziabad, all schools in the city will remain closed from July 17 to July 23 in view of ongoing Kanwar Yatra. The order read, “in view of the ongoing Shravan month from 11.07.2025 and the main Jalabhishek/Shivratri being on 23.07.2025, a large number of Shiv devotees take water from Haridwar and go to various states/publics such as Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi and border districts via Ghaziabad border.”

It further read, “In compliance with the order/instruction dated 15.07.2025 given by the District Magistrate, Ghaziabad, keeping in mind the movement and safety of children, buses in the schools of Ghaziabad district, all the primary/upper primary schools run under the Basic Education Council in Ghaziabad district and all secondary schools under secondary education, educational institutions affiliated to CBSE and ICSE Board and all educational institutions affiliated to technical education and higher educational institutions and schools run under Madrasa/Sanskrit Board will remain completely closed from 17.07.2025 to 23.07.2025.”

The DM’s order further read, “All the Principals/Headmasters of all primary, upper primary, secondary, CBSE/ICSE, technical education, higher education, all educational institutions affiliated to the board and Madrasa/Sanskrit Board are ordered to ensure strict compliance of the said orders.”

DM Deepak Meena said that due to Kanwar Yatra, traffic diversions have been imposed at several spots in the city which is affecting the normal traffic flow. School children are facing issues in going to school due to this and have to face traffic jams, he added. Hence, the authorities decided to close the schools in the city till July 23, the DM added.
