Gen Z’s Favourite ‘Dude’ Is Set to Return?

Pradeep Ranganathan’s Dude turned out to be one of the surprise success stories in Tamil cinema, crossing the ₹100 crore mark and establishing debut director Keerthiswaran as a filmmaker to watch. The romantic entertainer, backed by Mythri Movie Makers, struck a chord with young audiences especially GenZ and further strengthened Pradeep’s growing box-office pull thanks to Sai Abhyankar’s Super hit Album.

Now, fans have a fresh reason to get excited. Speaking recently, director Keerthiswaran revealed that he has already narrated a small idea for Dude 2 to Pradeep Ranganathan. According to the filmmaker, the actor liked the concept and the proposed continuation would pick up from the famous ‘Come on, Dude’ moment from the first film.

However, Keerthiswaran was quick to clarify that the sequel is far from being finalized. He stated that the idea currently exists only in a basic form and will move forward only if it develops into a complete and compelling story. Once the script reaches that stage, the team will explore the possibility of making Dude 2.

The update is significant because Dude was not originally designed as a franchise film. Yet, the movie’s success and the popularity of Pradeep’s character have naturally created demand for a follow-up.

At the moment, both Pradeep Ranganathan and Keerthiswaran are busy with their respective commitments. But with the director already planting the seed for a sequel, the chances of Dude 2 becoming a reality appear brighter than ever.
