Indian cricket team faced a challenging defeat against the   in the second held in Ranchi, despite scoring an impressive 249 runs.

The team lost by ,prompting head coach Gautam Gambhir to address the media afterward.

In the post-match press conference, Gambhir stressed the importance of not taking any loss lightly. “If you want to keep improving, you cannot hide from any issues,” he stated. As a world champion team, he emphasized their commitment to continuous improvement, particularly in challenging bowling conditions. “We know that flat wickets with dew can be tough,” he acknowledged, urging the team to find solutions.

Gambhir credited the West Indies for their victory, noting that they lost two wickets in the first over and three during the powerplay. However, the partnership between Shai Hope and Sherfane Rutherford proved pivotal. “Both are world-class batsmen, and it was difficult for us, but we will keep improving,” he remarked.

He also highlighted the need for fair competition, stating, “Conditions should allow bowlers a fair chance instead of leaving them at the mercy of the batters.” Gambhir expressed a desire for a more balanced contest, asserting that the bowlers on the team have worked hard to be in this position and deserve the opportunity to compete effectively.

In praising young fast bowler Mayank Yadav, Gambhir noted, “He is a fast bowler and should bowl like one. If you can bowl at 150 kilometers per hour, do it; if you can manage 120 kilometers, that’s fine too. As a fast bowler, it’s your responsibility to deliver speed.” Yadav showcased his talent by taking three wickets for 36 runs in just three overs during the match.

The Indian team will now look to regroup and address the challenges ahead as they prepare for future contests.
