New Delhi: Gautam Adani, chairperson of the Adani Group, met with the country leader of Vietnam, To Lam. To Lam is the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam. The meeting witnessed the discussion on several matters of mutual geoeconomic interests.
In a post on X, he was all praise for Lam’s “bold reforms and visionary agenda,” which have helped the Southeast Asian nation to usher in an era of becoming an industrial leader, including in energy and ports.
“It was a privilege to meet H.E. To Lam, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam. His bold reforms and visionary agenda to position Vietnam as a regional leader in energy, logistics, ports and aviation reflect exceptional strategic foresight,” Mr Adani said.
“We look forward to contributing to this transformative journey and enabling deeper Vietnam-India economic partnerships,” he added further.
India-Vietnam Bilateral Relations
India and Vietnam have strong bilateral relations spanning across trade and economic relations. As per the official data, the bilateral trade reached as high as $15.76 billion, recording a surge of 6.40 percent on an annual basis.
The value of Indian exports to Vietnam is $5.43 billion, while the value of imports from Vietnam is $10.3 billion.
For the fiscal year 2025, FY25, Vietnam stands as India’s 20th largest trading partner, and for India, it was the 15th largest export destination globally.
Lately, the Ambassador of India to Vietnam, Sandeep Arya, visited Tien Sa Port as INS Delhi, Shakti, and INS Kiltan made a port call in Vietnam’s Da Nang. The visit showcases the advanced maritime cooperation that both countries have in the Indo Pacific region.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had met Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit in Brazil.
