Gaurav Taneja REACTS to Ahmedabad plane crash: ‘Nothing short of a complete power loss can… Praying for everyone’

Following the tragic Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad this afternoon, YouTuber and former commercial pilot Gaurav Taneja, popularly known as Flying Beast, shared his insights on what may have led to the incident.

Taking to his account on X (formerly Twitter), Taneja suggested that a catastrophic technical failure could have caused the accident. “Looks like a Dual Engine Failure after Take Off. Nothing short of a complete power loss can force a modern aircraft into that kind of sink rate, right after take off. Praying for everyone on board,” he posted.

Responding to a follower’s query, Taneja stressed that such a failure is exceptionally rare. He explained that in a situation where both engines fail shortly after takeoff, especially at a low altitude with obstacles ahead, the pilot has very limited options.

He wrote in another comment, “Shocked to see a wide body aircraft just go down. Nightmare for a pilot. We have been into simulator sessions where our instructor simulates a dual engine failure and we struggle to gain control of the aircraft. BUT at the end, instructor feeezes the sim and says ‘that was just a demonstration’. Can’t even imagine if this happens in real life.”

Taneja, a former commercial pilot with over a decade of flying experience, is widely followed for his aviation insights and real-time analysis of flight incidents. Just weeks earlier, he had broken down another tense episode involving IndiGo flight that was forced to navigate rough weather after being denied entry into neighbouring country’s airspace due to geopolitical tensions.
