This Purana is based on the conversation between Lord Shri Hari Vishnu, the sustainer of the world, and the bird king Garuda. These are the five greatest sins
to deceive
One’s trust should never be broken. Not only this, one should never cheat anyone. Doing all this is a great sin. Betrayal and deceit destroy relationships. One has to suffer terrible pain in hell due to betrayal and deceit.
feticide
The life in the womb should never be killed. In Garuda Purana, infanticide has been called the biggest sin. Whatever may be the reason behind committing this misdeed, its consequences are very fatal. Doing this not only leads to the punishment of hell, but the next birth is also full of difficulties.
gold theft
One should never steal gold or any other precious metal. The person who does this not only commits a serious sin but also violates law and religion. The one who steals suffers extreme tortures in hell.
relationship with another woman
One should never have relations with another person’s wife. Doing this is also a great sin. A person who does this degrades morally and spiritually. In Garuda Purana, it is considered to be the reason for extremely painful punishment in hell.
to cause others to fight
Creating discord, fighting or quarrels in the house of others is also a great sin. Doing this not only disturbs social peace but also leads to serious consequences in life, hence this should not be done at all.
