Garuda Purana: After death, where does the soul wander in a ghost state for 13 days?

Garun Purana

Garuda Purana: Actor Dharmendra passed away today. His son Sunny Deol lit his funeral pyre. Death is that bitter truth of this world, which no one can ever deny. Any living being who has come to this mortal world will have to leave it one day or the other. The pain of someone leaving this world is unbearable. Even after performing the last rites of the deceased person, many other rituals are performed so that the soul of the deceased finds peace.

However, it is said in Garun Purana that after leaving the body, the soul does not immediately go to this world, rather the soul of the person who dies roams or rather wanders here in the earth for 13 days. Let us know according to Garun Purana, where after death the soul wanders in a ghost state for 13 days?

According to Garun Purana…

According to Garun Purana, when someone dies, the messengers of Yamraj take the soul with them to Yamalok. In Yamalok his sins and virtues are calculated. Then within twenty-four hours the dead soul is sent back to the same home where it left its body. After being released back by the Yamdoots, the soul keeps wandering among its family members and in the house in a ghost state.

The dead soul calls out to its relatives, but no one can hear the voice of the soul. Seeing all these scenes the soul becomes restless and starts screaming loudly. In case the last rites are not performed, the soul tries to go inside its body. Since the soul is tied in its noose by the eunuchs, it would be able to enter the dead body.

Pinddaan is performed

According to Garuda Purana, Pind Daan is performed for ten days after death and only then various organs of the soul are formed. Then on the eleventh and twelfth day, by offering Pind Daan, the flesh and skin of the body like soul is formed. Then on the thirteenth day, after Pind Daan, the soul again departs for Yamalok.
