According to Drik Panchang, this year the Tritiya Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Chaitra month will start on March 21 at 02:30 am. This date will end the next day on March 22 at 11:56 pm. In such a situation, according to Udaya Tithi, Gangaur fast will be observed on 21st March this year. Besides, Gangaur will be worshiped as per the rituals.

According to Drik Panchang, Gangaur Vrat auspicious time

  • On the day of Gangaur fast, Brahma Muhurta will be from 04:49 pm to 05:37 pm.
  • Abhijit Muhurta will be from 12:04 pm to 12:53 pm.
  • Godhilu Muhurta will be from 06:32 pm to 06:55 pm.
  • Amrit Kaal will last from 05:58 pm to 07:27 pm.

Importance of Gangaur fast

The word Gangaur is made up of two words Gana and Gaur. Here Gana is Lord Shiva and Gaur is Mother Parvati. According to mythological beliefs, Mother Parvati had performed rigorous penance and fasting to get Lord Shiva as her husband. Pleased with her penance, Lord Shiva made her his better half. This is the reason why Gangaur fast is said to be a symbol of unbreakable love, good fortune and happy married life.
