Why not visit Ganesh Chaturthi at night?
According to religious texts, when the elephant was faced on the body of Lord Ganesha, all the gods worshiped him. But seeing his form, the Moon smiled and ridiculed him because he was very proud of his form. Seeing this, Shriganesh gave the evening to the moon, ‘From today you will become black.’ After getting the evening, the moon regretted its mistake and apologized to Sriganesh. Then Shriganesh said that ‘You will now shine with sunlight. But whatever this day (Bhadrapada Shukla Chaturthi) will see you, he will be falsely accused of theft. This is the reason that the moon is not seen on the night of Ganesh Chaturthi.

Lord Krishna was also accused of theft
Lord Krishna was also falsely accused of theft due to seeing the moon on the night of Ganesh Chaturthi. According to the legend, there was a person named Satrajit in the kingdom of Lord Krishna, pleasing Suryadevata and attained a gem named Syamantak. She was a very miraculous gem. Sri Krishna wanted the Satjit to give his Syamantak Mani King Ugrasen. When Satrajit came to know about this, he gave his brother Prasen to keep that gem safe. A few days later, Prasen went to the forest, where he was killed by a lion. When no news of Prasen was received, people felt that Shri Krishna had killed Prasen for Mani. When Shri Krishna came to know about this, he himself went to the forest. Where he found that gem near Jamwanti, daughter of Mahabali Jamwant. There was a fierce battle between Shri Krishna and Jamwant to get the gem. Jamwant understood that Shri Krishna himself is an incarnation of Narayan. Jamwant returned the Mani Shri Krishna and got his daughter Jamwanti married to him.
