Gabriel Magalhaes Confident Arsenal Will Achieve New Heights In Upcoming Season

Gabriel Magalhaes is optimistic about Arsenal’s prospects for the upcoming season, expressing belief that the team can finally end their 21-year wait for a Premier League title.

The last time Arsenal claimed the championship was during the ‘Invincibles’ season of 2003-04. In recent years, they have consistently finished as runners-up, narrowly missing out to Manchester City in 2022-23 and 2023-24, and trailing Liverpool by 10 points in 2024-25.

Arsenal’s manager, Mikel Arteta, brought the FA Cup to the Emirates Stadium in the 2019-20 season after taking charge midway through. However, since then, major trophies have eluded them, with only Community Shield victories in 2020 and 2023. The arrival of players like Martin Zubimendi, Noni Madueke, Christian Norgaard, and Kepa Arrizabalaga has renewed hope within the club. Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres is also expected to join.

In recent seasons, Arsenal led the Premier League table for extended periods in both 2022-23 and 2023-24. Despite falling short earlier in the 2024-25 campaign, they reached the Champions League semi-finals but were eliminated by eventual winners Paris Saint-Germain. Gabriel Magalhaes expressed confidence in Arsenal’s growth and believes they will be contenders again this year.

Gabriel shared his thoughts with The Athletic: “I have only one thing to say, and Mikel said it-we are ready to reach new heights this season.” He emphasised that there are no excuses left for not winning trophies. “Over the past three years, we’ve done everything we could,” he added. “We just lacked a bit of luck.”

The Brazilian defender signed a new four-year contract with Arsenal in June and is determined to help the club achieve success. Reflecting on his five years at Arsenal, Gabriel said he has witnessed significant progress and is committed to winning titles. “I’m here to win titles, to achieve things, to help make Arsenal even bigger,” he stated.

Gabriel’s previous season ended prematurely due to a hamstring injury sustained during a match against Fulham in April. Now back in full training, he is eager to contribute when Arsenal faces Milan in a pre-season friendly in Singapore on Wednesday. “I’m progressing really well,” Gabriel mentioned. “It was a bit of a long process, but I’m feeling good now.”

He remains focused on preparing for what he anticipates will be a challenging season ahead. “It’s going to be a season full of challenges,” Gabriel noted. “But we want to win, so I’m giving my best.” His determination reflects his readiness to play an integral role as Arsenal aims for success.
